In the year 716 B.C. Nubian Kings had already been in control of all of Egypt (Kemet) for decades. The capital of Kemet was in Napata, the heart of Upper Nubia (today’s Sudan). They also established a capital in Memphis (Het-ka-Ptah) in the northern part of Kemet. This area was a place that revered Ptah, for many, many years. Shabaka, King of Kemet at that time, ordered a tablet to be written in honor of Ptah. It is said that the tablet was are creation of a papyrus that was worm-eaten and in bad condition. It was also said that the papyrus and its contents were old, scholars now think that the actual text was written in Shabaka’s time and it is unclear if the content represents the ancient theology of Het-ka-Ptah/Memphis or if it is the creation of the Nubian 25th Dynasty’s era, as this account is the only surviving copy of this theology. It is helpful to know the Austrian Tale to make sense of this doctrine, but several of the key gures are: • Ausar (Osiris), father of Heru and ruler in the afterlife. • Auset (Isis), wife of Ausar and a form of dedication and heroism that saves Ausar. • Heru (Horus), son of Ausar and Auset and rightful heir to the throne. (Kemetic kings were seen as Heru, rightful rulers, on earth). • Set, brother of Ausar who challenged him for the throne through trickery and put his body in the river for him to drown. If you have an understanding of Kemet theology, this writing is easier to understand. In general there was a belief in a Supreme source for life, which then brought forth deities and principles that govern life. That Supreme Being is sometimes called Ptah, or Temu (Atum) or Amen. That Supreme Being brought forth Shu and Tefnut (which represent air and moisture). Shu and Tefnut bring forth Geb and Nut (which represent earth and sky) and Geb and Nut bring forth Ausar, Auset, Set, and Nephthys. These all represent aspects that are in YOU.
